Style Basics: Maternity Clothes

Do you know how to build a maternity wardrobe? It's much like building your regular wardrobe, except you get to start from scratch. Believe me, it'll be ok. I know you have lots of other expenses coming up and you're probably much more into baby clothes right now, so I'll take you step-by-step through the basics of building a wardrobe that will take you through the upcoming change of season. (Later, you can do the same for your regular wardrobe).

Any good wardrobe needs to have some basics to build on. I recommend knits in this case because they'll "grow" with you, meaning you won't have to be buying more clothes in your third trimester. Then, you simply flesh it out with some things that make you feel special and that you absolutely love. I know that maternity clothes are difficult to come by, but there are options out there. I'll give you some ideas for where to look as well. Ready for another adventure? Follow me.

New, Fun Tool I Found

Ok all you crazy fashionistas out there! Oh, wait. That would have to be me, considering it's 5:15 a.m. and I've not yet been to sleep. They warned me that being an entrepreneur would do this to a person. But it's all worth it. I just got done writing an article and I found the coolest tool, ever! That's right. I might be a little delirious, but if you go here: http://www.squidoo.com/fashioncents-for-the-stylepoor you'll be able to see a couple of outfits I put together, find some valuable tips on wardrobe building blocks (which I'll expound on in later articles) AND last, but not least, listen to some of my favorite tunes. Yay! Another one of my passions! Guess I didn't realize just how passionate I am until I started all this.

Considering the lateness (or earliness) of the hour and my propensity to delirium when I'm sleep deprived, I'm going to keep this short. But seriously, go check that stuff out. I'll let you know if I still think it's as fun after I've slept a few hours. I don't have quite the resources here for creating looks that I do there and I'm super excited about being able to "draw you a picture" so to speak. I plan to write more articles there, just so I can put the outfits together and give you a taste of what I can do for you if we work together (if you're in the Denver, CO area or want to fly me out *wink, wink*). So stay tuned.

Until then...

What Can Fashion Consulting Do For Me, You Ask?

And I answer. See the picture on the left? Now see the picture on the right. I cant take you from left, to right. Well that's a little bit of an exaggeration, I don't build walk-in closets, but I can get you organized so you're not wasting your precious time digging for your other shoe. Wouldn't you rather use all that wasted time (and energy) on the beach drinking a mojito?

I hadn't planned on posting another article yet, but how are you going to know what it is exactly I do, if I don't tell you? These are the kinds of things that keep me up at night! Pitiful isn't it? Simply put, I cater to those of you out there who have "a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear." That too, is a pity... and completely unnecessary. (For those of you who don't have a closet full of clothes, yet still have nothing to wear, I can definitely help you, too - even easier, because you have no bad habits to break. But shhh - don't tell my clotheshorse sisters and brothers out there. I wouldn't want to offend them so early on). Now, shall we get to the nuts and bolts of this operation?! We shall.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I've always been a bit of a fashionista. Well maybe "fashionista" isn't quite the right word. I'm not "trendy." Tapered-leg pants? UMMMM... not for me, thanks. I prefer to wear what is the most flattering on me and tapered-leg ain't it! Yes I know ain't isn't a word. Fashionista may not be the exact right word either, yet when I say "fashionista" it just brings a smile to my face and a warm, fuzzy feeling to my heart. I would define my style as, well, "MY Style." My friends generally say, "I would never try it, but you sure can pull it off!" And no, they're not just being nice. I get compliments all the time, even from strangers, I just happen to have found the style that is uniquely me. (I'll post pictures sometime. You can be your own judge.)  What I've discovered about my style is that I happen to love a more "masculine" fabric (think pinstripes - my absolute fave!, houndstooth, glen plaid) made up in a perfectly girlie style. Ruffles? Not so much. But lace?... a little lace on a pinstripe blouse, now THAT my friends, is my style! And denim skirts with rhinestones? Mm hmm!
